School Name

Originally McHenry supported two Catholic schools, St. Marys and St. Patricks. In the 1970s the two school combined to create Montini Catholic School. In 1989 Church of Holy Apostles was formed and joined Montini Catholic School.

Montini Catholic School is named after Pope Paul the 6th, whose family name was Giovanni Battista Antonio Maria Montini. He was elected Pope on June 21, 1963.

Snow Day Information

There are several methods to find out if school has canceled because of inclement weather. The easiest method is to check your email from Montini. You will be notified as soon as the school receives word, which is always by 6:00 AM.

There are several other methods for finding out about a snow day. They are as follows:

  1. Watch channels 2, 5, 7, 9, 32 or CLTV for news of all school closings.
  2. Tune your radio to WGN as well as WBBM.
  3. Telephone either school- Call the Middle School at 815-385-1022 or the Primary Center at 815-385-5380. If school is closed, the message will be changed to indicate this action.
  4. Use your computer to go to www.emergencyclosing.com- indicate that you want the status for Montini Catholic School in McHenry (there is another one in Lombard.)
  5. Please keep in mind that if McHenry School District #15 closes, we will automatically be closed also since they transport our children.
  6. The closure of either Montini and/or Marian has no impact on the other school. Since we are within the boundaries of different public school districts, it is possible for Montini to be out of school while Marian is in and vice-versa.
  7. Please also remember that in the event of a snow day, all extra-curricular activities will be cancelled. That includes all sport events, meetings, band, scout and any other after school event that meets at either school.
